VON KROLOCK – Southwell 13:22 4/1*
Despite already being the market favourite at the time of writing, the form this yard is in of late is enough to suggest the current price available is of good value. Winning nicely at Wolverhampton last time out, it hasn’t taken long to get off the mark for James Owen. This 6-year-old is striking at a highly respectable 33% on the all weather. If the visor can have the same effect as last time out, he will take some beating here. The sizeable 13 runner field has the potential to throw up some surprise, but the 5 places on offer can be used to mitigate such risk (yes, even at 4/1).
MOOSTAR – Southwell 16:22 4/1*
Another James Owen current market favourite, but again another horse from this year that has shown enough to suggest 4/1 is good value. She may be yet to score on the all weather, but the addition of the tongue tie helped her to finish second last time out at Chelmsford, missing out by just a neck when 33/1. Lack of consistency is the main concern here, but if the trainer can work his magic and build on her last performance, she could well go one better this time around.
IRIS DED ISSARDS – Exeter 15:30 7/2*
Another shorter price pick here, but the top weight in this one is currently only second favourite in the market, and I would expect him to go off much closer in price to the favourite, if not becoming the favourite himself. Solid enough first appearance over hurdles last time out, and he is back down to a more familiar trip this time around. Treated as top weight by the handicapper, and he there is plenty to suggest he does have the class to show exactly why.
PARLANDO – Chelmsford 20:30 12/1*
Yet to strike on the all-weather after nine attempts, but was competitive last time out here when 5th of twelve at 20/1, and has had equally competitive runs in Class 2 races as recent as 12 months ago. Back down to Class 4 company here for only the third time in his career, with 1st and 2nd place finishes in the previous two. Going off on what appears a very handy mark here, current market value looks very attractive if he can find close to his best.
