SHOESHINE BOY – Ayr 13:15 13/2*
It was clear that his first run of the season was needed for race fitness, as he was much more competitive second time around at the start of November when 3rd of 10 at Hexham when 14/1, though he was some way from the winner. No stranger to winning over this course and distance having done it twice in his career, last in February of last year. Despite being over 18 months without a win, this has led to a reduction in the weights to the point now where he looks favourable at his current mark, with Charlie Maggs taking a further 5lbs off his back. If he can continue to improve on his season form, he could well be in the mix.
LAW SUPREME – Kempton 14:57 20/1*
Form figures this season are very uninspiring but this has meant a steady decline in the weights to a generous-looking mark. First time tongue strap and cheekpieces being brought in here to try and make a difference, and a strong booking with Billy Loughnane on board all adds up to an intriguing prospect. If all these ingredients can come together in the way which is intended he could have each way claims at least, making his current market price attractive.
COURT DRIVE – Wolverhampton 17:30 9/1*
Having put in her most competitive run in months last time out at Lingfield when missing out by a short head when 15/2 in a Class 4, stepping back down into Class 5 company here makes her a strong contender for this race despite the market odds. She is carrying the least of all entries by a sizeable 5lbs. She has won here before on her debut last April, and has already won twice this season and if she finds the form shown in these wins or the class shown last time out, she will be a serious contender.
