SUNDAY SOLDIER – 14:20 Lingfield – 10/1* EW
This looks a wildly open race on paper, with many you could make a case for at a bigger price. This mare is striking at over 30% over hurdles, and despite no win since April 2024, she appears to hold the best value currently in the market. Despite not winning in quite some time, she always runs competitively, finishing in the first four seven times in this winless period. Had a go over fences at the back end of last year and again was competitive, but back over more familiar obstacles this time over a distance she clearly likes. One positive of this winless run is that she has now slipped in the weights to an attractive mark, and there is enough to suggest she could end her drought here.
FELTON BELLEVUE – 15:20 Lingfield – 11/1* EW
The value would appear to be with the veteran here, who absolutely loves this track. The 11-year-old’s last victory came over course and distance last February and he has never been tailed off around here. Now carrying 5lbs less than he was during that win 11 months ago, there could be at least one more trip to the winners enclosure yet in his lengthy career.
ASH WEDNESDAY – 19:30 Wolverhampton – 9/1* EW
Something of an all-weather specialist, with a very handsome strike rate of 60%. Add to that a record of 4 wins from 5 races over course and distance, then it begs the question of why he is such a big price? Possibly due to little success in the summer on turf, but given his all-weather record this price looks extremely attractive.
