Course and distance winner and this 8-year-old is striking at 25% on the all-weather. Scored two wins in a week in early December at Lingfield and Wolverhampton, though both of us were over a furlong further than he will race here. Will be looking to start the new season on a high and will be aided by his mount taking 3lbs from his back. Enough to suggest he has every chance if at his best.
RUSHEEN BOY – 14:15 Southwell – 6/1* EW
A previous course winner, back at what would appear his favoured distance of 7f after a few outings over 1m. Now just 1lb higher than his latest win that came at Chelmsford in late August. Should be in the mix.
LOW EXPECTATION – 14:40 Huntingdon – 11/1* EW
Scored a hattrick at the back end of 2025 under James Davies, who will take the saddle again here. Clearly in great form but does now have more weight to deal with as a result. Question will be whether the penalty will be enough to peg him back, if not then these odds are very attractive. Has already been backed into 20/1 since odds were released this afternoon.
