Horses to Watch – 23/02/26

AMI BONDHU – 15:45 Plumpton – 15/2* EW 3pl

Last time out was over course and distance here and finished a respectable third, which is impressive considering it was his first time over such a distance. 1lb lower than that effort two weeks ago, so a repeat performance this time around and he should be well in the mix.

THE JEWELLERS PET – 16:00 Ayr – 7/1* EW 4pl

The value here lies with last year’s winner of this very race and just the 1lb higher this time around. Ran on to finish third in his last race which was also over course and distance here. His recent form figures appear uninspiring due to lack of competitiveness over fences, back over hurdles here as was that most recent effort. Enough to suggest he can retain his crown in this race.

BINT HAVANA GOLD – 16:25 Wolverhampton – 15/2* EW 3pl

This mare is striking at a respectable 19% on the all-weather, and whilst recent performances have left a lot to be desired she drops down to class 6 company here, having previously been competing in class 5 and even class 4 company. As a result of recent form she has dropped significantly in the weights and is now 3lbs lower than her most recent success just over four months ago. She is also a previous course and distance winner here, so plenty to suggest she can rediscover some more competitive form here.

AMAYSMONT – 18:00 Wolverhampton – 10/1* EW 4pl

This race appears incredibly open looking at current market prices, which is good from a value perspective. What draws me to this one is he now has slipped far enough down the weights to compete in a 0-55 handicap, company in which he won twice at a couple of years ago. Rated as high as 87 in his peak and is an 8-time career winner so clearly holds plenty of class. Coming towards the end of his career now but he may have a couple more glory days in him at this level.
