Horses to Watch – 29/09/25

THE LOVE MACHINE – 14:04 Down Royal @ 10/1*

Despite being unplaced in all six runs so far, four of those have at least been competitive runs and now well treated in the weights here, this colt could go slightly further this time out. He will need to reverse previous form against multiple competitors he faces again here. It would appear he is best suited to the 5f trip, with other runs at 6f and 7f being disappointing. Was only beaten two lengths when 5th of 12 over 5f at Naas, and if he can find that slight improvement he has each-way claims here for sure.

BARNSNAPE BOY – 14:10 Brighton @ 11/2*

Two wins from his last three runs, including one over this course and distance, are encouraging signs that this 4-year-old can continue the good form shown this season. Maybe a little disappointing last time out at this course, but this can be forgiven considering the soft conditions that day when his best runs have come over quicker ground which is expected to be the going this time around. With Donagh Murray in the saddle claiming 7lbs alongside the return to drier ground, he is in with every chance on paper.

UNCLE DICK – 15:55 Brighton @ 16/1*

This gelding seems to absolutely love it at Brighton, and just about nowhere else when looking at form this season. The form is rather uninspiring but a course and distance winner four races ago in class 4 company, back down to class 5 here and he could well be competitive here once again. Jockey on board is taking 7lbs off his back also, so there is enough to suggest that he is being a little disrespected in the market, currently the second-outsider in the field. With four places on offer here, I certainly wouldn’t be put off an each way play.
