Horses to Watch – 20/09/25

MUSTAZEED – 14:40 Newbury @ 10/1*

Winner of this race last year, up 6lbs this time around but with 3 wins from 7 over course and distance, he clearly goes well here with 60% of career runs coming over this C&D. Has won on ground from good to firm to heavy. so conditions should not be an issue. Been inconsistent this season and indeed ever since winning this race 12 months ago when 3/1F. Would need to rediscover his best form, but what better place to do it than here and with 4 places available looks good value each-way

LAM YAI – 15:00 Ayr @ 20/1*

Form is impressive over the past 3 runs, with a maiden win at Carlisle over 5f and two competitive enough runs in listed company since then. No doubt improvement is needed to be competitive again in this large field, but Karl Burke’s 2-year-olds have been in fine form this season, with the trainer striking at 26% over the past 14 days and Clifford Lee on board with an equally impressive strike rate of 25% over the same period. 20/1 will be great value if the improvement is found, even if at minimum it is enough to pick up a place in the top 4.

TWO TRIBES – 15:35 Ayr @ 10/1*

Impressive form so far this season, with two wins from the past three runs over 6f & 7f in class 2 company, including a very handsome win at Ascot at 25/1. Solid enough last time out when 4th at York, despite going off as joint favourite, A massive field of 25 here means as many as 7 places are available, which would appear good value for an each-way play. Should be right in the mix if he can continue the form shown so far this season, with an equally in-form jockey on board with David Egan striking at 20% over the past 14 days.
