SAGE GREEN – 15:35 Warwick – 8/1* EW 4pl Decent first appearance of the year when 2nd of 10 at Kempton when 14/1, though was some 12 lengths behind the eventual winner. First run since wind surgery and first time application of a tongue strap seem to have made a positive difference. His sole career […]

CHEMISTRY – 15:57 Newcastle – 22/1* Former member of the prolific Aiden O’Brien stable, where he was the winner of a listed race amongst his three career wins so far. No stranger to class 2 company but has struggled to be competitive, much like the effort last time out in class 3 company over a

NETYWELL – 13:35 Carlisle – 13/2* EW Without a win on over two years, but showed some signs of encouragement last time out when 4th of 11 at Ayr when 10/1. Has fallen a further 3lbs in the weights for that run and is now below his last winning mark. This race looks quite open

What is a Handicap? Much like in other sports – such as golf – handicaps are used in horse racing to try and even the playing field. Horses are made to carry weight such that it slows the ‘better’ horses or gives an advantage to the ‘lesser’ horses in a race to try and make

BATAILLON – 14:50 Taunton – 13/2* EW Started the year with a bang when winning over course and distance here last month, in what was just his second start over fences. Seems to prefer races that require more stamina, which will be a test tomorrow given the likely slow ground conditions. Has been given a

ASHFORD HILL – 13:18 Lingfield – 5/1* EW Won nicely over course and distance here last time out when a big price of 16/1, and her only other career win was also over course and distance so she clearly likes it here. Has struggled to find any sort of consistent form as yet in her

HALIPHON – 18:00 Southwell – 11/2* EW Still yet to score on the all-weather after 17 attempts but has racked up over £180,000 in prize money on the turf over his career so there is clearly ability there. Went well last time out around here when 3rd of 9 at 6/1. Drop back in drip

The main aim of my ‘Horses to Watch’ series is beating the market start price (SP) by finding value in the betting market the night before the race. I use a combination of statistical analysis and AI value-modelling to find a horses’ implied probability (% chance of winning the race based on stats) and compare

LODGE – 14:32 Southwell – 15/2* This filly has been very lightly raced in her career so far, with three solid runs under her belt. 5th of 9 last time out on handicap debut may not read for great form, but she was only two lengths behind the winner that day and clearly has some

THECOFFEEPODDOTCO – 13:20 Lingfield – 11/2* Yet to win in her career so far but she has been very unlucky not to score this winter, with form figures of 2223 since the start of December on the all weather. Despite giving away weight to most of her rivals her consistency is admirable and is well
